Volunteer FAQs

1. Where is the performance located?

Dallas Ballet & Academy of Dance productions are held at Central High School in Independence, OR. The entrance to the theater is on the east side of campus (closer to McDonalds), so the best parking is the lot there. The address is:

2. When is the Volunteer Orientation Meeting?

The orientation meeting will be held during dress rehearsal. **The volunteer meeting is optional for repeat volunteers! Make sure to watch the Volunteer Orientation video that will be sent to all volunteers, and then if you have questions, you are welcome to the meeting. Once the rehearsal is underway, Miss Stephanie will make an announcement to volunteers to gather with Miss Christina in the Lobby.

3. What should I wear when I'm volunteering?

Volunteers will wear a black top with their volunteer nametape that they received at the orientation meeting.

4. What time do I need to arrive the day of the show?

Volunteers will arrive 45 minutes before the show. (For a 6:00pm show, arrive at 5:15pm and proceed to your seat.)

5. If I have a little dancer, can they come at the same time I arrive?

Yes, if you have a dancer in a beginning/elementary class, they can sit with you until their class volunteers arrive.
**However, if you have a Creative Movement dancer, they will need to sit with another family/friend member through half of the show. If you are volunteering, you will not be able to keep your little Creative Movement dancer with you.

6. What time will the dancers arrive?

Dancers arrive 30 minutes before the show (this is also when the audience arrives). Roll Call for volunteers will be taken before that, so you should be in your seat ready to receive other dancers long before that time.

7. How do I receive my complimentary ticket?

Complimentary tickets are provided for volunteers who are not sitting with a class, and so cannot watch the production (e.g., ushers). When eligible volunteers register and are confirmed, we will provide the complimentary ticket.

8. What do we do while sitting with classes?

Your primary role is to take attendance and keep the dancers engaged with the show (and their hands to themselves, etc.). Throughout the production, Miss Christina and Miss DesaRae will come retrieve your class when it is time for them to go backstage, and return them after the dance. During the show you can stay in your seat when your dancers leave. **At the end of the show, the House managers will return to gather everyone for the curtain call finale. At that point -- the end of the show, all volunteers will come with the dancers to help line up for bows.

9. How will I pick up my dancer after the show?

The youngest dancers will be held on stage with volunteers for you to come pick up. Older dancers will be released after the curtain call to come find you on their own.

10. Can I order a DVD of the production?

Yes, you can let Miss Stephanie know how many you would like by emailing her at: sroballet@gmail.com.
